July 2010 Round Up.
We’re well into Wedding season now, and I feel privileged to be present on so many peoples big day. There’s always a big feel-good factor at weddings, I guess everyone’s there to enjoy the day and no one wants to look miserable on the photographs!
The photograph’s often take a long time to complete, and this has been the most popular time for me to perform this summer. Performing outside has it’s obstacles tho – I can’t put any props down in case they blow away (I learnt the hard way!). There was a comedy moment recently when I was performing for a large group of people including the mother of the bride, who I tried to involve in one of my effects. As she walked towards me, her hat blew off and the page boy was sent chasing across the courtyard trying to retrieve it! This provided more entertainment than I could ever give, and gave the photographer some great photo opportunities!
I put a lot of preparation into my act, especially for weddings. Likewise, the Bride and Groom spends months (and sometimes years!) planning their big day. But it really is the spontaneous moments that people remember. So my big tip for weddings is – expect the unexpected!
Scary thought for you all now – it’s the beginning of August as I write this, and it’s already time for me to start planning my Christmas events! I’ve had a few events booked in for a while now, but July/August is generally when the emails start coming in regarding Christmas work.
I feel like my year is back to front – when it’s Christmas, I’m planning my summer performances for Weddings and Summer Balls. It can’t be healthy to start talking about Christmas now can it?
I’m already looking forward to returning to a couple of ‘Winter Weddings’ in December, aswell as a return to RAF Cranwell for a Christmas Party. Dates are being taken up fast, so if you’re thinking about arranging any sort of event on a Friday or Saturday, get in touch Here!
