September 2010 Round Up.

- A packed out September started off with some great photos being sent to me by Harald Haugan. Harald and I met at The Belfry where I was performing magic at a wedding. The photography was amazing, and really captured the reactions of the guests during the day. The photos on this page were taken by Harald, be sure to check out his website here.
That particular wedding was also worth a mention for the distance that some of the guests had travelled to be there! I approached one table of 10 and each person was from a different country. There were guests from Spain, France, USA, Argentina, Italy, France, India, Portugal, Norway and even all the way from Australia. It definitely proved a point that close up magic is the perfect ice breaker, as I got some very generous feedback in many different languages. (at least I think it was feedback!)

I was also asked to perform for the international students starting their first year of study in England at Birmingham City University. Again, another multicultural audience with students coming over from India, Pakistan, Japan, Hong Kong, Sweden, USA, Taiwan, Italy, Poland and Turkey. At such a young age, the students showed tremendous courtesy and politeness, and I was very impressed at how confidently they spoke English. My grasp of foreign languages is not the best shall we say….so I have great admiration for young people who come to our country to study and can speak better English than some of my pals!
For everyone who’s on Facebook, don’t forget you can keep up to date with what’s going on by visiting my Facebook page. Just search for Christian Fletcher Magic, or follow this link. I often update it with pictures, videos and links to cool things, so make sure you check it out next time you’re on Facebook.

On September 12th I visited Twickenham Concert for Heroes. This great concert was shown live on BBC 1 and had a fantastic line up with some of this country’s biggest pop stars, along with a whole host of comedians. The atmosphere was electric, and it was great to see so many people all in support of the charity. Sir Tom Jones, Robbie Williams, Peter Kay, Jack Dee, Gary Barlow, Enrique Iglesias, John Bishop, Michael McIntyre, Rhod Gilbert, The Saturdays, Alexandra Burke, and so many more acts were all on top form!
For those of you who are not familiar with Help for Heroes, it is a charity that simply wants to help the injured servicemen and women coming home from conflict zones around the world. Non political and non critical, H4H just wants to support the wounded. All of the money raised, goes straight back out to projects around the country aimed at making a difference to the lives of those wounded in battle.
Don’t forget to visit the official Help for Heroes website for future events, and also information on how you can get involved. Even if it’s only buying a wrist band or a T-Shirt, every single penny is worth it.
