We’re well into Wedding season now, and I feel privileged to be present on so many peoples big day. There’s always a big feel-good factor at weddings, I guess everyone’s there to enjoy the day and no one wants to look miserable on the photographs!

The photograph’s often take a long time to complete, and this has been the most popular time for me to perform this summer. Performing outside has it’s obstacles tho – I can’t put any props down in case they blow away (I learnt the hard way!). There was a comedy moment recently when I was performing for a large group of people including the mother of the bride, who I tried to involve in one of my effects. As she walked towards me, her hat blew off and the page boy was sent chasing across the courtyard trying to retrieve it! This provided more entertainment than I could ever give, and gave the photographer some great photo opportunities!

I put a lot of preparation into my act, especially for weddings. Likewise, the Bride and Groom spends months (and sometimes years!) planning their big day. But it really is the spontaneous moments that people remember. So my big tip for weddings is – expect the unexpected!

Scary thought for you all now – it’s the beginning of August as I write this, and it’s already time for me to start planning my Christmas events! I’ve had a few events booked in for a while now, but July/August is generally when the emails start coming in regarding Christmas work.

I feel like my year is back to front – when it’s Christmas, I’m planning my summer performances for Weddings and Summer Balls. It can’t be healthy to start talking about Christmas now can it?

I’m already looking forward to returning to a couple of ‘Winter Weddings’ in December, aswell as a return to RAF Cranwell for a Christmas Party. Dates are being taken up fast, so if you’re thinking about arranging any sort of event on a Friday or Saturday, get in touch Here!

June has certainly been a busy month! My website is now up and fully functional, and I’ve had some great feedback so far – please keep all your comments coming! The website was designed by Monster Creations and I have been very impressed with everything from the overall design, to the support and customer service I have received!

Unfortunately the World Cup did not quite go to plan – but there’s not much I can say that hasn’t been said already! I am currently working on a trick that involves making those Vuvzela’s disappear though – watch this space!!

During the tournament, I was in London performing at the HAC Royal Artillery Gardens. The group match between England and Slovenia was being shown to over 900 guests, and Christian can be seen here with Arsenal legend Ray Parlour. Among other guests were Tottenham and Argentina hero Ossie Ardiles, aswell as clients from Vodafone, Blackberry, Continental and Emirates Airlines, HSBC, Leyland Vehicles and Microsoft. The event was also supported by Sport Aid.

Also, I had the opportunity to meet with Derren Brown following a performance at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham. Derren’s show ‘Enigma’ was thoroughly entertaining, and highly recommended! If you have chance to see Derren perform live, you will not be disappointed. His showmanship is top class, and his skill as a magician and as an entertainer is out of this world!

When I personally watch other performers, it is hard for me to have that feeling of amazement that most audiences experience. With the knowledge I have, it is rare that a magician leaves me speechless. It’s happened 3 years running now with Derren’s live shows!

I’m also pleased to say that I shall be returning to Las Vegas in October of this year. For me it’s the most magical place on earth, and my first visit to Vegas sparked my interest in professional magic. I’ve had some great times there, and I’m looking forward to performing on The Strip once again this year! I am gathering footage for my showreel that will be released later this year, and I aim to capture some performance footage from Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is often considered ‘the place to be’ for magicians, and on any night you can find 4 or 5 of the World Greatest Magicians performing there. David Copperfield is currently at the MGM Grand, while one of my inspirations, Lance Burton, is at the Monte Carlo Resort. Modern day favourite, Criss Angel, has his Cirque du Soleil show at The Luxor, and Penn and Teller are at The Rio (after a short 5 night stint in London in July!). These are some of the worlds best magicians, and along with 5 or 6 other top names, they keep audiences amazed nightly, in their own theatres. One day I’d like to be joining them with my own headline show, because who knows? Stranger things have happened!
